Respect for diversity is a fundamental social value and a driving force for the growth and development of universities.
Kyoto University, upholding its tradition of academic freedom, advances original research by welcoming and cultivating unconventional ways of thinking. The university hereby declares that it shall further deepen that tradition from the perspective of DEIB, and fulfill the trust and expectations of society as a vibrant university that actively welcomes people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Kyoto University will embrace a diverse institutional community with different perspectives and experiences, including diversity of gender, nationality, age, physical characteristics, religion, and sexual orientation. It will provide the best possible equitable support to meet diverse needs and is committed to maintaining an inclusive environment of mutual respect in which each individual can fully demonstrate their individuality and abilities.
Furthermore, by not merely accepting diverse perspectives and values, but by recombining and interweaving them, a deeper understanding and new values can be created. In an environment that encourages open dialogue and discussion, the university will develop a co-creative community in which people can feel a sense of belonging, and take pride in the university as a part of their own identities.

In order to maintain an environment in which people of different cultures, customs, and languages can fully demonstrate their abilities at the university, the International Service Office provides support to international students, faculty, and staff.

The Agency for Student Support and Disability Resources and the Operations Support Services Office provide a variety of support and consultation services to maintain an environment in which students, faculty, and staff with disabilities can comfortably conduct their studies, education, and research.

The Operations Support Services Office has been established to promote the employment of persons with disabilities at the University by providing consultation on all aspects of hiring and continued employment of persons with disabilities as a point of contact for the employment of persons with disabilities.
